Back to School Favorites

I am in denial that school starts next week, this summer flew by! We are making this last week extra fun & festive, and avoiding the realization that next week we will be up before the sun packing lunches.

I’m rounding up all of my favorite finds for back to school this year, back packs, everyday basics & all sorts of glittery extras!

one // two // three // four // five // six // seven

ONE // Everyday basics!! I love these shirts, they are super well made & last forever. They’re on sale and a great price right now, they’re perfect to pair with skirts or jeans as the weather cools down. I also love these polka dot ones & these fun stripes.

TWO // Cartwheel shorts are a must have if your little ladies love wearing dresses & skirts. Especially if they never. stop. cartwheeling. like ours do.

THREE // The confetti backpack returns!! I almost bought this one for Harper last year, but it’s back and it’s even cuter, so I got it for both Harper & Eloise. Claire wanted a unicorn rainbow one, so I got this one for her & she loves it! PS. They’re also on sale right now!

FOUR // I will never not love glitter high tops! These are SO fun & I totally want them in my size. Brandon will hate them because they will shed glitter in his truck, but YOLO.

FIVE // I always give the girls a small piece of jewelry on their first days of school, it has always been a bracelet in the past, just something special to make their day a little extra sweet. This year, it’s rollerskate earrings for Harper since she has her ears pierced.

SIX // We love love love these little suspender skirts, Claire wears them almost every single day. I love them paired with graphic tees or striped shirts, so classic & fun!

SEVEN // New pajamas for the night before the first day of school. And also just because they’re so freaking cute.

We also love these Bentgo lunch containers to put inside the girls lunch boxes, they make packing lunches so easy & I love that they’re all one piece so super easy to wash. I also have lots of lunch ideas in this post if you’re interested!!

And last, couldn’t help but grab this super soft sweatshirt for myself that is perfect for carpool mornings! Good times, indeed!!

Hope you guys all have the BEST last few days/weeks of summer & all of your little ones have an amazing first day back! Who else is getting excited for FALL?!

Our Fourth + Claire’s 4th

We are still recovering from what may have been the most fun weekend of the Summer, Fourth of July + Claire Bear’s fourth birthday! We had so much fun with friends & family, lots of time at the pool, good food & drinks, and of course, fireworks!! Does it get any better than that?! It’s been a while since I’ve blogged these things, honestly I feel like Instagram is almost the new mini blog but many of you have told me you want to see it here, so let’s do this thing!

Brandon’s family came down for the Fourth from Iowa, the girls absolutely love spending time with their cousins & we love to entertain! The Fourth of July was our first holiday we spent in our home last year, and confirmed for me that picked the right house. Our neighborhood takes holidays v. seriously and I am here for it!! We started the morning early with a neighborhood tailgate, mimosas and bike decorating for the kiddos! We have a small city parade that my dad drove our truck in, and the kids had so much fun riding along. The rest of the morning was spent underneath tents with live music & food from everyone in the neighborhood until we all got rained out. We all came home and waited out the storm, then spent the rest of the afternoon at the pool (overcast skies & Frosรฉ are a perfect combination!) and then came home to do some fireworks in the yard and watch the city ones around the corner. All in all, the best kind of holiday!!

We spent Friday at the pool again & grilled out for dinner, and then went down to First Friday in the Crossroads to watch the Kansas City Air Show. We grew up going to air shows and I totally forgot how much fun they were!

Sunday we celebrated Claire’s birthday!!! Claire tells us all the time, “my name isn’t Claire, it’s Rainbowgirl” <– And all one word if you hear her pronounce it. If any of you remember the video of her telling us what she wanted for her birthday party earlier this year, she asked for “a rainbow beach party, with a rainbow swimsuit and a rainbow cake and a rainbow dog!” We couldn’t give her a beach, but the backyard was a pretty close substitute! It was a super laid back bash in the afternoon, with a handful of neighborhood friends, cake, cupcakes & popsicles! The girls had a blast & Claire was asleep on the couch before all of her friends even went home. It’s her party and she’ll sleep if she wants to.

In years past, I have always been excited when we roll into the second half of Summer because I love Fall so much. But! Elementary school brings a whole new meaning to Summer, I love love love having the girls home with us and not having to get up to rush around each morning. We are savoring every last drop of this season!!

I hope you all had an amazing Fourth of July, as always, thank you for reading!! XO

Five Things To Do With Your Kids This Summer.

It is officially summer break and we are already loving every second of it! I don’t think I fully appreciated summer break until having three kids in school full time. The happiness I feel each morning when I wake up and don’t have to rush to pack lunches or get out the door is indescribable. Slow sipping coffee for the win!!

So I thought I would share the five main things on our Summer Bucket List this year, we have some travel plans and tons of fun visitors, but this is what the girls have on their agenda & we think it’s a pretty great list!!

Popsicle Stand // Last year we did a lemonade stand and the girls had the most fun! They have been asking to do a popsicle stand this year, which is what my best friend & I always did when we were little. We also painted rocks with nailpolish and tried selling them. We probably should have just stuck to the popsicles. All you need is a table, a cooler & an assortment of your favorite popsicles! We might even make our own, but not making any promises.

Camping // Who needs mountains and lakes and real campgrounds, when you can camp right in your backyard?! We are planning our first ever backyard campout this year, complete with a tent (maybe an air mattress), a campfire & s’mores!

Amusement Park // We are taking the girls to Adventureland this Summer, a super nostalgic amusement park in Iowa that we used to go to when we were little! They have lots of fun things to do for kids & we can’t wait to spend an entire day there riding rollercoasters & eating funnel cakes!

Baseball Game // Such a fun way to spend an afternoon! I think our girls are finally old enough to actually enjoy a game & maybe even sit through the entire thing. Especially if popcorn is involved!

Backyard Party // You don’t technically have to leave your house in the Summer to have fun if you have a backyard. The slip-n-slide, sprinkler & inflatable pool are our kids favorite thing to do. Invest in a few fun backyard toys and you’ll find yourself having the best Summer ever without even trying!!

I would LOVE to know what fun things you have planned this Summer! I am truly looking forward to lots of downtime which means hopefully lots to share here!! Cheers to making it through another school year, mamas!! XO
