Where to even begin!!
We left Georgia on March 22nd & did not get to sleep in our new house until April 27th. We spent a week in a hotel and the rest of the time living with my parents, who also moved to KC. The initial work we started doing on the house when we closed on it a few weeks prior ended up just being a way bigger project than anyone anticipated, and after that, it was just one small set back after another that kept us from moving in. It was hard being in transition, but the kids pretty much loved life getting to have grandma & grandpa around all the time. Harper has been in school for a few weeks and absolutely loves it, and we have been so fortunate in meeting lots of amazing families in our neighborhood. Morning walks to get coffee are also one of my favorite parts of living here!
I turned 32 this month, we celebrated at our current favorite place, Gram & Dunn and set out to find all the best margaritas in KC. We ate lots of birthday cake & toasted to lots of new adventures!!
I have said it a million times, despite all of the road blocks & unexpected problems, we are so happy in this house & love it so much!! We are looking so forward to getting more settled, getting unpacked & gearing up for an amazing summer!
Five things I am loving the most right now:
- It sounds silly, but the air & the grass!!! It’s still chilly in the mornings here, and the air is crisp, it just gives you all the good feels! And the grass, so good!!! I forgot how soft midwest grass is, I just want to be barefoot in it every day.
- Noodles & Company.
- Already getting to see so many of our friends & family any time we want!!
- Overgrown oak trees & lilacs.
- And the small town feel! KC is no where near small, but at least in our neighborhood everything feels so quaint & seriously exactly where I thought I would always live.
Hope you are all getting to enjoy some major Spring weather beauty, have a happy week!! XO441
YES!!!!!!!!!!! Southern grass is AWFUL!!!!!!! And the red ants! I know exactly what you mean, when we go to Maine…we never wear shoes!!!!!

Oh man, I moved from Michigan to Georgia and I miss Noodles and Company so much! Their pesto is sooooo good!
Glad you’re settling in! Questions about decor – where is that runner from in the hallway by the stairs? And where is the floral framed print/art from?

This makes me so happy! Welcome to Kansas City!
Huge congrats on finally getting moved in! I’m in love with that light fixture in the third picture… If it’s new, could you share the source info?
I have been following you since you were pregnant with Harper and this may sound silly, but I can hear how happy and content you are through your posts these past couple of weeks. It feels like you are finally home.

I spent a summer in KC on an internship in 2008 and loved it. Filling Station was one of my regular spots- so glad to see it’s there!!!
It’s so fun watching you discover and love the city I’ve been blessed to live in my whole life! Welcome to KC!!

We moved back to KC 2 years ago and have enjoyed coming home. Another coffee place to try is Post Coffee Co. in Lees Summit. My husband loves their coffee. He’s been roasting his own beans lately, but really enjoys theirs.
I would love to know where the flush mount light in your stairway is from! Your house is already looking gorgeous
I have been following you since the living better together days…like forever! It has been so fun to watch your journey. One thing that keeps me invested is your love of the simple things. I wish more people could appreciate the feel of grass or air in the morning. Your babies are so lucky to have a mama like you that teaches them the beauty of traditions and life’s little pleasures.

Oh my goodness, that blog was so long ago! Thank you so much for reading, Tracey! Your comment made my day!!!
If you haven’t yet, gotta check out Trader Joe’s. It’s a grocery store, but it has so many specialty items and good prices on produce. Pretty fresh flowers when you walk in, and lots of goodies… also be sure to check out their coffee section!

I absolutely adore the ceiling light in your stair hall! It compliments the character of your home so well! Can you tell me where this is from? I am moving into an 1892 home, I think it would work well in our space. Thanks!
