Our Favorite French Toast Recipe

French toast is a favorite in our house, my girls ask for it at least twice a week, and not just for breakfast! We have made it differently over the years but have finally perfected the recipe & will never go back.

The trick to making the best French toast is using good bread & making the perfect egg & milk mixture so that you get a crispy outside but a custard like center! We use fairlife ultra-filtered whole milk not only because it has an extra creamy consistency but it provides a bit more protein (and less sugar!) into our otherwise sweet breakfast! 50% more protein and 50% less sugar than regular milk, to be exact!

Our Favorite French Toast Recipe
One Loaf of Cottage Bread or Sourdough Bread
3 Eggs
1 Cup fairlife Ultra-Filtered Whole Milk
Splash of Vanilla
1 Tsp Cinnamon
1 pinch of salt
2 tbsp. butter

In a small bowl, whisk together 3 eggs, 1 cup of fairlife & splash of vanilla. Sprinkle in cinnamon and salt and set aside. In a large skillet, heat 2 tbsp. of butter until melted. Soak each piece of bread in mixture evenly until soggy & place in hot skillet. Flip once & make sure each side is browned. Add more butter as necessary until desired number of slices are cooked. Top with fruit, syrup & a sprinkle of powdered sugar! 🙂 Best served with a cold glass of fairlife! You will end up with a deliciously sticky mess, but it is so worth it!

I’ve got a French Toast gamechanger: maple syrup! Add maple syrup in your egg mixture, like 1/4 cup. The syrup cooks in the bread…DELICIOUS!

I have to try this one. I made french toast cupcakes the other weekend with basically the same recipe. Except used cinnamon flavored coffee creamer. So good!

Sacrificed just one sweatshirt and my favorite pair of socks because I was way too lazy to change into painting clothes but overall: worth it. Also don’t look too close, 100 year old plaster walls are the opposite of smooth. On the hunt for some fun art next!! Swipe for before and afters 🖤
