Harper’s Bedroom

Harper turned EIGHT last week, which seems crazy to me since she was definitely just a baby yesterday. She has grown into such a smart, funny and kind kiddo. We are so proud of her and just love watching her grow up, she cares so much for her sisters and her family. We loved celebrating her this weekend & of course plan to keep the celebrations going all month long.

For the last few weeks, she has been talking lots about wanting to rearrange her room and make it feel more “grown up” so we decided to surpriser her for her birthday with a little room makeover!! After she left for school on Valentine’s Day, we got right to work, chugging coffee, rearranging her room, adding a new chair for her desk plus a bunch of new accessories and wall decor. It was so much fun!!

She came home from school and was SO surprised!!! Her favorite things were the pin board & her new CD player! One of our favorite traditions to do together is to stay up late and watch awards shows, I usually put all the girls to bed like any normal night, and then sneak back upstairs to get her after her sisters fall asleep. We eat popcorn and drink sparkling water and watch all of the red carpet goodness. The art on her pin boards are all of celebrities in their red carpet gowns, plus Harper really wants to be a fashion designer when she grows up, so these are so special to her for many reasons!!

We got her the new Taylor Swift album to go with her CD player, but then she used all of her birthday gift cards to buy a few more over the weekend. It is actually so sweet to take a step back in technology and not use a streaming service, she is really excited to grow her very own music collection.

I feel like eight is such a sweet age, a glimpse into what they are going to be like as a teenager but also some bits and pieces of their little toddler self still sticking around. It’s also just the right age for a big girl room and we are so happy she loved it! And if you need me any time soon, I’ll just be over here crying about the fact that she is now halfway to sixteen.

I was pregnant at the time I stumbled on your pregnancy blog and my son (also turning 8) is right around the corner! You said it perfectly – a glimpse into the future with their toddlerhood still sprinkled in. I’m crying!!!! The room is amazing btw and Harper is adorable!

I can not believe she is eight! I have followed you and your family since before you had Harper – I now have my own 3 year old so I haven’t followed you as closely here lately but it blew my mind when I read that she is eight! Anyways, love the room!

Impulsively painted this little powder/laundry roo Impulsively painted this little powder/laundry room green and I’m obsessed. Sacrificed just one sweatshirt and my favorite pair of socks because I was way too lazy to change into painting clothes but overall: worth it. Also don’t look too close, 100 year old plaster walls are the opposite of smooth. On the hunt for some fun art next!! Swipe for before and afters 🖤
