Christmas 2014

We are already missing Christmas. This year was the best yet, not only because of the kids, but because we had my parents here this year. My brother & his girlfriend drove down from Iowa as well, so it was a full house & we loved every second of it!

On Christmas Eve, we went to church, the late candlelight service is always my favorite & Harper brought along her little battery operated candle that she swiped from one of our windows so she could join in. She has been carrying the thing around with her for weeks so she was pretty excited to put it to use. Eloise was teething & running a low fever, so she stayed back with Brandon, luckily she woke up feeling much better! When we came home, we set out some cookies for Santa, carrots for the reindeer & turned our fire off so Santa could come down the chimney! 😉 Harper was one excited little girl, I was so surprised that she fell asleep as quickly as she did. Santa’s Elves spent a few long hours assembling a certain little play kitchen, but in the end, it was well worth it!
Christmas morning was as magical as ever, Harper couldn’t believe that Santa really came & Eloise was in wrapping paper Heaven. She tasted each and every present & bow, while Chef Harper cooked us up some breakfast in her new Elsa dress. The kitchen was definitely the highlight of the morning, neither of them have stopped playing with it since! (The play kitchen can be found here, we spray painted the hardware gold just for fun). We ate breakfast (and cookies), opened our stockings & played all morning over mounds of wrapping paper.

We had all of our family over for an early lunch, we cooked another turkey Thanksgiving style in the fryer outside & made all of the traditional sides. Stuffing is always my favorite! We all took a (long winter’s) nap, then went over to my parent’s house for the evening. Harper’s favorite gift them was a princess dress up set, complete with her first pair of heels & a wand, how cute is that grin?

It has been a fun last few days, but also bittersweet as we packed away all of our Christmas goodies until next year. Harper was so sad to see the tree go & to say goodbye to our Elf. Except, she somehow spotted her stuffed in a margarita glass in the cupboard, she had to take that up with dad! 😉
I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas & wish you a happy New Year’s week ahead!! XO

We got the same kitchen for Gracie this year – my poor hubby cursed the whole four hours it took him to put it together! Such a great gift though 🙂

Sounds like a great Christmas and I love that you spray painted the kitchen gold! It looks so cute! Our little guy was also in wrapping paper heaven. We could have just given him the paper and skipped gifts (which I figured all along) but what fun would that be. ;P
