Thanksgiving Menu

We are excited to be hosting a small Friendsgiving on Sunday since our big family Thanksgiving is cancelled this year. We will probably cook everything again next week just for fun, because why not? I love Thanksgiving food!! I wanted to share our menu & links to some of the recipes we are using, a few classics and a few new ones that we are excited to try!

I came across this recipe for Cranberry Brie Bites and knew right away we had to make them!! I love a mix of anything sweet & savory, and also you can never go wrong with puff pastry!

Bacon-wrapped smokies have been a football gameday favorite for us for years, so I figured why not add them to the appetizer menu for Thanksgiving day as well! They are candied with brown sugar and are gone almost immediately after serving. Here is a recipe similar to how we make them.

We will fry our turkey in the turkey fryer (read the story of the fryer and our morning tradition here!), and we will also make our sweet potato fries in it once we pull the turkey out.

We make a traditional stuffing, and then scoop it into individual portion sizes in a muffin tin and bake for about 15 minutes just until it starts to crisp on the top. It is always everyones favorite side! (Another dish we cook in a muffin tin because of our newlywed pan shortage, IYKYK).

I’ve shared my cinnamon butter recipe a few times, you can find it here!

And last we will do a spread of three different kinds of pies! My aunt’s famous pumpkin pie recipe which I will share with you guys first thing next week, a pecan pie (that I have never made before, so if you have a favorite recipe, please share!) and a chocolate pudding pie! My grandpa always made these during the holidays and I happened to find his recipe in my grandmas recipe box, such a treasure!!

Ok that’s all for now, time to make a grocery list and get to work!! Would love to hear what fun recipes you have planned for next week! XO

This is my husband’s grandma’s recipe. It’s my husband’s, so I make it several times during the holiday season. Definitely a good, traditional pecan pie. And easy too!

    Oleta’s Pecan Pie
    1 Cup Golden Brown Sugar
    3 Eggs
    ¾ Cup Corn Syrup
    1/4 Teaspoon Salt
    1 Teaspoon Real Vanilla
    1/4th Cup Butter Melted
    1 Cup Pecans
Combine sugar and eggs and beat well
    Mix together everything but pecans.
Add pecans last after everything is mixed
    Bake at 375 40-45 mins.
You know it’s done when you shake it slightly and the center is firm.

You can’t go wrong with the Pioneer Woman’s pecan pie!
