Christmas 2016

Merry Christmas, friends!

On Christmas Eve, we had some friends over for breakfast & made reindeer pancakes for the kids. Such a fun way to kick off all of the festivities!! We had candlelight service at church & a Christmas party to attend that night, so we decided to make chicken noodle soup for dinner during the day so that it would be ready by the time we got home and we wouldn’t have to cook. Between noodles & the rest of our sugar cookies, our counters (and kids!) were covered in flour for about five straight hours. The girls were so excited all day long, Harper’s class at school made reindeer food (dry oatmeal + glitter) and she has had it in her backpack for over a week just waiting so patiently to get to put it outside. We read the night before Christmas, set out our cookies & milk, and the girls sprinkled their reindeer food off the back deck before going to bed. We got to work in Santa’s workshop for the next few hours before calling it a night, there is no sight quite like the tree lit up & covered in presents on Christmas Eve night!

“Hark, the herald angels sing, Glory to the newborn king.”

I set my alarm to wake up early before the girls so I could see their faces when they came downstairs, but of all days, they slept in! Brandon & I were awake drinking coffee and debating whether we should go wake them by the time they finally came peeking out of their room! They were SO excited, I loved every single minute of it!!!! Harper was screaming “Ellie! Santa brought us princess dolls that we didn’t even ask for!!!!!” We opened gifts, then went to the kitchen to make cinnamon rolls and hot chocolate, and then later came back in to open stockings. Every attempt to make it last a little bit longer! Harper loved the princess dolls and beads most, Eloise loved her boots & bubble tape, and Claire got her very own toy tablet that she played with pretty much all day.

We had my family over for lunch, we did a cheese tray & another batch of chicken noodle soup, then the kids got to take all of their new toys outside to play since it was 65 degrees! It was beautiful weather, although I would totally have preferred a white Christmas! 😉 We had spaghetti dinner at my parents house, and ended the with some moscow mules & a dance party with my siblings after the kids were in bed.

We are keeping our tree up for a few more days & enjoying the festivities as long as possible. I love this time of year so much! I hope you all had the MERRIEST CHRISTMAS and were able to spend time with the ones you love. XO

Merry Christmas to you and your family! It looks like you had a blast! Just to let you know – some of your photos don’t load as the files are too big – so I just see black boxes 🙁 Soooo upset as I have been following you since your chalkboard days. It has happened since your new web design. Wishing you all the best for 2017 and cannot wait for new posts. xx

This blog post brought a tear to my eyes. My son is too young to really enjoy this time of year, and we have 4 different places to be on Christmas Day (and 2 places to be in Christmas Eve) that it’s stressful and not even the slightest bit fun for us. .:sigh:. May some day I’ll enjoy this holiday.

Sounds like a perfect Christmas!! Meanwhile, my boys went through major meltdowns with how overwhelmed they were by everything! It was pure chaos! Fingers crossed that next year is a different story!!

Where did you get the silver hunters in toddler sizes? Have been searching everywhere for my little girl…saw that Eloise had a pair awhile back as well, but have only found them in big girl sizes. Thanks for sharing, love everything as always, your family is beautiful.
